What is foaming?
Foaming assesses the degree of foam formation and destruction in oil.
In liquids (hydraulic oils, engines), the air exposure range typically contains 8-9% dissolved air.
When oil is in the air and foaming, it will increase the oxidation of the lubricant, increase the flow of oil and cavitation will appear.
Most of the finished oil contains anti-foaming additives: it will break air bubbles on the surface, limiting foaming.
