ILSAC stands for International Commission on Lubrication Standardization and Approval.
ILSAC standards include: tests to evaluate engine cleanliness, wear resistance, environmental protection (emissions) and fuel economy (energy).
The symbol of ILSAC oil standard is GF-x (where x- is the number representing the order of oil quality with grades 1, 2, 3 …) the highest grade of lubricating oil currently in accordance with ILSAC standards. is GF-6.
ILSAC GF-4 was issued in January 2004 with test conditions much harsher than APIs, mostly for turbocharged engines, European and Japanese engines; Small capacity motor, high output power.
GF-5: Introduced in 10/2010 and started to be used for cars from 2011 and even used cars. Designed to improve piston protection from scaling and engine temperature rise, strictly control sludge generation, improve fuel economy, and enhance emissions control.
GF-4, GF-3, GF-2, GF-1: Outdated and replaced by GF-5 standard.
