API STATUS USE
CA Obsolete Not suitable for engines manufactured after 1959
CB Obsolete Not suitable for motors manufactured after 1961
CC Obsolete Not suitable for engines manufactured after 1990
CD Obsolete Used for naturally aspirated and turbocharged diesel engines
CD-II Obsolete Used for 2 stroke diesel engine
CE Obsolete Used for naturally aspirated and turbocharged diesel engines. Can be used in place of CC and CD oils.
CF Current Used for field diesel engines, indirect oil injection and other diesel engines using sulfur fuel higher than 0.5% kl. Can be used in lieu of CD oil supply
CF-2 Current Used for 2-stroke diesel engine with heavy duty. Can be used instead of CD-II oil.
CF-4 Current Used for naturally aspirated and turbocharged diesel engines. Can be used in place of CD and CE oils.
CG-2 Current Used for 2-stroke diesel engine with heavy duty. Can be used instead of CD-II oil.
CG-4 Current Used for naturally aspirated and turbocharged diesel engines, heavy duty diesel fuel with less than 0.5% kl. Can be used in place of CD, CE and CF-4 oils. Meets emissions standards in 1994.
CH-4 Current Used for naturally aspirated and turbocharged diesel engines, heavy duty diesel fuel with less than 0.5% kl. Can be used in place of CD, CE CF-4 and CG-4 oils. Meets emissions standards in 1998.
CI-4 Current Used for naturally aspirated and turbocharged diesel engines, heavy duty diesel fuel with less than 0.5% kl. Can be used in place of CD, CE CF-4 CG-4 and CH-4 oil grades. Meet the emission standards in 2004.
CJ-4 Applied from 2007 Meet 2007 emissions standards.
